Abstract
Nickel-base superalloys have an irreplaceable position in the aerospace field due to their unique high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. IN718 is susceptible to wear failure in harsh service environments, so high wear resistance is one of the desired properties of IN718 superalloy. In this paper, the optimal parameters of ultrasonic surface rolling process for IN718 were explored through orthogonal tests. Microstructure characterization, microhardness measurements, and wear resistance analysis at room temperature were carried out by laser confocal microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer, microhardness tester and friction and wear testing machine. The results show that ultrasonic surface rolling can reduce the surface roughness of the material and increase the microhardness, which gradually decreased from the surface of the material to the core. In the friction and wear test with a load of 10N, it was found that the ultrasonic surface rolling process improved the anti-wear performance of IN718.
